What is a recovery phrase?

The Enjin Wallet is a BIP44-compliant Hierarchical Deterministic Wallet (HD Wallet). Your wallet address can be recovered at any time by using a recovery phrase. A recovery phrase is a set of human-readable words which acts as a seed used to generate the private keys for your wallets on multiple blockchains.

The Enjin Wallet uses the BIP-39 English wordlist for recovery phrases.

An example of a recovery phrase:

It is very important that you write down your recovery phrase and store it in a safe place. Your wallet can be recovered with this recovery phrase at any time if you have forgotten your password or lost access to your Enjin Wallet app.

Backing Up Your Enjin Wallet

New Wallets

In newly created wallets, a large red alert will appear at the top of your wallet overview reminding you to back up your wallet.

We strongly advise you to do this as soon as possible. Tap "BACKUP" to start the process.

Note that if you lose access to your device or forget your password before backing up your wallet, your funds will be lost.

Back Up Your Wallet

You will need to enter your Enjin Wallet password to decrypt your recovery phrase so it can be displayed.

Enter Password

Your recovery phrase will be displayed to you 4 words at a time. We encourage you to double check after every 4 words to ensure you have written them down 100% correctly.

We strongly advise using a pen-and-paper approach to record your recovery phrase. This means writing it down on a piece of paper and storing it somewhere safe and secure.
